Slumber Party

The only one who's still wasn't tired...
When I think of a slumber party, I usually think of oodles of girls in pajamas doing each others' hair and nails in the midst of pillow fights.  But it turns out that a slumber party can be anything you want it to be.

We usually keep Friday nights free so that we can do fun things together, all six of us.  If we're going to watch a movie, we do it on Friday night.  Sometimes we play games, sometimes we do art projects...
and we almost always have pizza.   Last week, Kaelyn decided that we needed to do something a little more entertaining and she took it upon herself to plan Friday night's activity:  a slumber party.  And when Kaelyn decides to do something, she goes all out.
Handmade invitations for each of us, along with a planned
menu and a list of activities.  Who could say no to that??

Flannel pants tucked into fuzzy socks, and slippers

So our first-ever slumber party was held last Friday night, starting at precisely 7:30 p.m. (as stated on the invitations, of course), after our normal Friday Pizza dinner.  Once all the "guests" had arrived--in p.j.'s with blankets and pillows in tow--we started with a game of Phase 10.  If you're at all familiar with this game, you know that it can last a very long time.  Needless to say, we didn't complete all ten phases, but just enough for everyone to feel like they could say we had played the game.  Next on the agenda:  Movie Time!  We picked a classic to show the kids:  Cool Runnings. And of course, no movie night is complete without popcorn and drinks (yummy Italian sodas).  By the time the movie was over it was after 11, and everyone was getting tired, so we ended our activities, and yes, we all went to sleep in the living room.  Maybe we didn't stay up quite late enough for it to be classified as a real Slumber Party, but we had fun, and I think we made a memory.
