The Real Story
I love stories.
Funny stories, astonishing stories, heart-wrenching stories--all kinds. But
mostly I love real stories from everyday life, told with the
imperfections of humanity shining through every detail. A good story has the power to teach, to inspire, and to entertain, and that power is magnified when the story comes from real life.
Tonight was the annual Coffee
House night at PBT, where strong coffee, delectable desserts, and
outrageous laughter were therapy for our souls.
Four people who have made it their mission to see transformed lives
through God's word in every language were invited to share their stories…and
more often than not, their mishaps, awkwardness, and practically inconceivable situations as well.
Maybe they work on
different continents; maybe they have completely different roles within the
organization; maybe they have personalities that are as different as night and
day. Maybe they have known danger and
inconveniences and loss; maybe they have struggled and wanted to quit.
But despite the imperfections, their stories are real. Real work, among real
people, for a real God. What could be a better story than that?
