Moving In

It's been six months since I've written anything to post; not because we haven't done anything interesting, but because I just haven't made the time to sit down and do it.  So now, I suppose, I could write about our two months in the States and all the fun things we did there, and all the really great people we got to spend time with.  And then I guess I could write about our month back in the Big Mango, unpacking and packing at the same time.  I think, however, that I'll just skip all that and start with where we are right now.

We moved into a house this week.  Not anything too startling on its own merits, but this is a house that we plan to stay in for a while, at least for an undetermined amount of time.  Since 2010 we have moved nine times and lived in six different places, all with the goal of getting to this place where we are now, a town called Lola.  Lots of changes to our plans have come up along the way, but we have finally made it to the general area of this country which we have been working towards for five years.  So that's why I can say:  we moved into a house this week.  And that's something.

Three weeks ago we loaded up our car and all of another car, and even part of a third car to start our caravan across the country.  If you'll notice, our dog is on a leash...because he can't be trusted otherwise!  But that's another story entirely.

We left early in the morning, and got to witness the country just waking up through the mist and fog after a rainy night.  The trip took two long days of driving, but that same distance could be covered in about 12 hours of driving in the States.  Sometimes the road was paved, sometimes the road was mud, and sometimes the road was occupied by a cow.

Even still, we made it.  We made it to the home of our good friends and teammates, and though they can't continue to live here, they have shared it with us.  There is lots to be done now:  cleaning and projects around the house and learning where to shop for everything and meeting neighbors and visiting the churches and starting homeschool again for the kids and language learning and hanging pictures on the walls.  But our suitcases are put away, hidden high up on a shelf, and that's a good feeling.
